Today I told my friend that I feel like I’m retire Today I told my friend that I feel like I’m retired (please don’t mention this to John). It’s hard to know *exactly* how many hours a week I actually work - particularly because I’m also studying, maybe about 20, maybe closer to 30, who knows 🤷‍♀️ but honestly, I love it all. I also feel like the work I do and the studying I’m doing is all weaving together, helping me to deepen my practice. And that is EXCITING!! These are the things I’ve done this week that have made my heart sing 👆 I’ve also not mentioned the 1-1 clients I support, my own supervision, the 34 expectant parents I’ve met ❤️ and the support of The Tribe - a wonderful group I’m a part of. In summary… 🍄‍🟫 It’s a mast year for mushrooms. 🐈‍⬛ My cat is still fit. 💚 Blue skies and moorland are the best.
I’m only half joking here because my counselling c I’m only half joking here because my counselling course involves WAYYY more reading and writing. But I do think there is something to be said for courses that actively encourage… Play Doodles Creativity And the use of crayons 🖍️ I’m a huge fan of crayons. I feel my way into a lot of the work that I do, bu I feel my way into a lot of the work that I do, but that doesn’t mean that I don’t take training, my own CPD and my own supervision very seriously. There is something deeply exciting and deeply vulnerable about being a learner, and I think it’s really important to remember that every so often. Here I am, in my learning era, come set up my desk with me… *no 🐈‍⬛ on screen today she was too busy in bed sleeping after a full night of being in bed sleeping. I’d say this was tongue in cheek but my dad remind I’d say this was tongue in cheek but my dad reminded me that as he was staring at Saint Peter’s Basilica, he heard me shout “wow will you look at that!” only to turn around to see me with my nose pressed up against a pasticceria window staring at the cannoli 🤤 Turns out I have an obsession for pasteries, gelato and 1 euro souvenir shops. “Whatever causes healing laughter is sacred as wel “Whatever causes healing laughter is sacred as well. When laughter helps without doing harm, when laughter enlightens, realigns, reorders, reasserts power and strength, this is the laughter that causes health… when they are made bigger, made better, more generous, more sensitive, that is sacred” Estes The last two months have been a little different in The Wild Creative as we have explored some of the lighter stories in The Women Who Run With the Wolves 🐺 These stories have felt much needed. They have reminded me how utterly necessary laughter is. This feels particular important given the time of year - Sept and another school year is a reminder of time passing and here in the northern hemisphere as the nights draw in there can be a certain heaviness. I figured the only way to navigate this for me personally is to look at the things that make me laugh, have made me smile or have just made a difference. One of them has been Colne (which is where my gym has a gym), I’m falling in love with Colne at the moment (although my heart really is with Skipton aka the happiest town in the UK). Next in The Wild Creative we are Gathering again in October - this time we will have a story, but a story from the highlands of Scotland, from Sharon Blackie’s book Wise Women, before we return to Wolves 🐺 and (of course) The Omen Days in December. The doors are now open if you want to join… *Side note: my dishwasher has broken, I’m wondering if I can live without one? I never used to have one and think the space could be very useful to put the big pans in in my kitchen. Also the £400 I would save by not purchasing would be useful, thoughts…?

I’m only going to Rome!! It’s so much easier to jo I’m only going to Rome!! It’s so much easier to journal when traveling if you pack the things you love. Here’s what I’m packing - travelling light this time because I’ll only be there for a few days. I’m taking my Moon Room Journaling Prompt cards because they are really handy for impromptu journaling when you can’t be arsed thinking about what to journal but you’ve heard journaling is supposed to be good for you and need a jumping off point. Some days have such a perfect symmetry to them it’ Some days have such a perfect symmetry to them it’s really hard to ignore. This morning it was the Creating Circles drop in where we explored starting groups and how, all of a sudden, there can be an alignment and ideas we had suddenly gain momentum and take flight. In the afternoon I facilitated the first Creative Art Journal for a community arts space. They don’t know this but I had been hoping (and dreaming) about creating something there for a few years - but it wasn’t the right time. I think sometimes we need to go on another journey and come back from a different perspective. A few months ago that’s what happened, and everytime I go now I just feel so welcomed by everyone, it has been such a privilege to step into that space as a tutor. I remember when I dreamed about having my own Art Journaling Class in the community ✨ how lucky am I ❤️ #creativeartjournal #creatingcircles #thejournalcircle
If you ever hear your name when outside a room it If you ever hear your name when outside a room it is always better to announce yourself than to wait outside and hear what people are saying about you* And I’m so glad I did that today because it meant that my impromptu visit also led to a trip to 2 of THE MOST IMPORTANT places in Skipton - The Art Shop and The tutor’s Resource room at Craven Arts 🙌 I am really passionate about making creative journaling accessible, and for it not to be about the pens. Lots of my workshops include things that have been gifted, foraged, stolen (joke), repurposed or recycled in some way. And that is really important to me. I want people to forage things that would otherwise be in the bin and to use whatever they have to hand. I also think that sometimes when we purchase the precious things they can become too precious and we can sometimes be too afraid to use them. Which is such a shame! The Creative Art Journal at Craven Arts starts this week and there will be a whole table of things to use… ⭐️ Paints and paintbrushes ⭐️ Pens, crayons, pastels ⭐️ Magazines, scissors and glue ⭐️ Scrap paper, wrapping paper, recycled paper - basically anything I can get my hands on that doesn’t have a name on it already ⭐️ You just need a journal 📕 and anything else that you REALLY want to work with. *places are limited on the Creative Art Journal and there are just a couple of places left (which is just brilliant news btw!) so if you are thinking of booking on - do so ASAP - we begin Thursday 1-3pm* *I also am firm believer that whatever people say behind your back is not your concern.
