The Coders Guild’s Women’s Leadership Course

As part of Women Leaders in the Digital Age, a fantastic women’s leadership course delivered by The Coders Guild, I am co-facilitating creative workshops alongside Christina Cheney in a great creative space provided by Spark York.

During the workshops, we use creative methods to give the group time and space to deepen their understanding of the course content.

The course runs over 12 weeks with one or two sessions a week and focusses on developing skills around:

⭐Establishing a team charter

⭐Leadership styles and models

⭐Managing highly effective teams

⭐Time and resource management

⭐Measuring success with OKRs and KPIs

⭐Understanding cognitive bias

⭐Encouraging diversity, equality and inclusion

The creative workshops

During the creative workshops, we have had thoughtful group discussions with creative, hands-on activities to explore key themes like:

⭐ Power and privilege

⭐ Accessibility and group cohesion

⭐ Boundaries

⭐ Leadership responsibilities

⭐ Creative reflection

⭐ Authentic, values-based leadership

The workshops are also an opportunity for participants to connect. We hope that the group will go on to become a powerful peer network, supporting each other long after the course is completed.

It is inspiring to watch the group connect and support one another as they progress through the course.

A personal highlight for me was integrating insights from APCCA and Dr Pooja Lakshmin into the workshop. One standout activity involved creating a mandala as a way to examine group boundaries – a process that unexpectedly turned into a creative frenzy as it was cut apart, repurposed and reimagined. Another favourite moment was guiding participants in crafting their “inner compass” to focus on authentic leadership.

The feedback we received has been so rewarding

Here’s what participants had to say:
💬 “The sessions were incredibly powerful and helped me feel seen and heard.”
💬 “Thank you for creating a safe and inclusive space.”
💬 “I loved the creative activities – they really brought the ideas to life!”
💬 “Keep doing this – it’s so needed!”

I’m excited to support the next cohort starting in January 2025!
