Why I’m walking away from Doula UK

After much reflection, I have decided to step away from Doula UK and end my role as a mentor within the organisation.

This hasn’t been an easy choice, but it has become clear to me that I can no longer stay aligned with structures that cause harm and fail to show care or accountability. Whilst I have not personally experienced harm within Doula UK, I cannot ignore what has been experienced by colleagues and peers, particularly Muslim members, or the organisation’s silence on Palestine.

As a white woman, I recognise that my privilege has shielded me from much of this, but that same privilege means I must take responsibility for not remaining complicit.

I want to reassure those I mentor that I am still here. I am continuing to mentor and support doulas outside of Doula UK, I will also continue to work as a trainer with Red Tent Doulas with the same commitment to compassion, integrity, and deep care.
